Members of Malvern Trefoil Guild visited the club earlier this week to learn about croquet.

The Trefoil Guild keeps former members of the Girl Guides Association in touch.

Eight ladies visited Stoney Ley to try croquet and were hosted by Mary Dryden and Stuart Smith. The visitors were all either former Brownies, Guides or Rangers. Some of them had given more than 50 years of service to the Guide movement.

Everyone joined in the fun during the visit

Most of the members had never tried playing croquet before, but were keen to try.

To get a feel for the game, they joined Stuart and Mary to watch some of the Broadwas Handicap GC Team play in their local derby against Worcester Norton before playing a game themselves.

Stuart said “After a good game we retired for tea, coffee, chat, walnut and date muffins, lemon drizzle and ginger cake. A happy time was had by all.”

Being former Guides, it didn’t take the visitors long to get the hang of it
