Broadwas Croquet Club’s Friday Rollup fans can pat themselves on the back after their end of week activities helped raise a sizeable sum of money for the Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.
As anyone who has attended an end-of-week rollup session knows, the bell sounded at three in the afternoon heralds the distribution of sumptuous cakes, baked by Glynis Croft, wife of Friday afternoon session organiser, Chris. Glynis has once again supplied cakes for the Friday sessions all season and the money raised this year has surpassed the £217 raised by members’ donations last year.
Chris told participants at the last official Friday rollup of the season that the money raised by the member’s donations in the 2023 season was expected to be over £400. It was later confirmed in a thank you letter from the Worcester and District Fundraising Committee for MacMillan Cancer Support, that Glynis and Chris’s efforts (aided by the selfless cake-eating dedication of members) officially raised £425 for the charity.
Both Glynis and Chris Croft were thanked for all their efforts during the season, when Glynis was presented with a gift voucher from club members, by Gerry Stevens.
