Ryland Trophy
The competition for the Ryland Trophy was held on Tuesday and things got off to a great start despite an appalling overnight weather forecast. All six morning rounds were completed and lunch was taken. Then the rain came. A vote was taken and, sadly, we decided to call it a day. The result was :
1st John Guy 63 pts : 2nd Josie Watson 61 pts :
3rd Roger Wood 58 pts : 4th Jim Norris 57 pts :
5th Stuart Smith 56 pts : 6th Mike Dunnet 55 pts.
So John is now the holder of the Ryland Trophy.
Faulkners 1st and 3rd in High Bisque Finals
We held our annual high bisque competition on Thursday and from the very first game it was clear that Jean Faulkner was going to be very hard to beat, overcoming veteran player Jay Popplewell 7 – 2. The eleven players were split into two groups, one of five and one of six, for the preliminary rounds and Jean headed her group with 48 points, 8 ahead of her nearest rival, her husband Jeff, winning five out of her six games.
In the other group Roy Schofield came out on top with 37 points winning four of his five games. So the final was between Jean and Roy which Jean lead all the way and won 7 – 5.
In the other play off Jeff Faulkner beat Dave Holt 7 – 6 so Jeff was third and Dave 4th.
A great day and congratulations to Jean.
